Generally speaking dermatologists do not prescribe UV light for the treatment of acne. From discussions I’ve had with derms, UV Light does treat the SYMPTOMS of Acne and dries up the comedones but it does not clear the underlying root cause. Blue light is used as the anti–bacterial light and the red is anti-inflammatory.
