Prurigo Nodularis and UVB Narrow Band

I have come across a few postings on various websites regarding the treatment of Prurigo Nodularis. This is a skin condition in which hard crusty lumps form on the skin that itches intensely. PN may itch constantly, mostly at night, or only when a light brush of clothing sets off a round of severe itch. For many, itching only ends when the PN is scratched to the point of bleeding or pain.

It does appear that UV can help. I have read in a couple of places that PN can be helped but I cannot find any definite articles or papers which provide conclusive evidence. I would appreciate hearing from anyone out there about Prurigo Nodularis and can be helped/cured with UVB Narrowband?

I had UVB for 1 year. It took 2 months before I saw significant results (ie meaning all lesions closed up, healed and no new ones appear. In a years time they were practically faded. When I lost my health insurance I could no longer afford it, and I had a flare up but no where as near as bad as the initial.
Now I only have steroids creams, some times pills and UVA for the last six months. It isn’t working.

    Thanks for your reply.

Do you happen to know if it was UVB Broadband or Narrowband. I am really sorry to hear that the UVA is not working. I am guessing that the pills are a form of Psoralen (PUVA) which are taken before treatment to improve the skin’s sensitivity to UVA light? See http://www.uvbnarrowband.com/?p=41 for the difference twixt PUVA/UVA nad UVB NB.
